Section One: Member Conduct
« Reply #1 on: September 04, 2012, 09:36:05 AM EDT »

1.)   The Golden Rule:  Respect.

This entire community is founded upon the principle of mutual respect.  All members are expected to treat other members and non-members with respect and courtesy at ALL TIMES.  There will be NO EXCEPTIONS given to this rule.

2.)   Member Behavior (Code of Conduct).  While The Corellian League does not enforce an age policy, we do expect all of our members to act with maturity and refrain from “childish” behaviors.  Even though the game itself is rated “Teen”, TCL is by and large an adult community.  The following types of behaviors are prohibited:
  • The use of obscene, harassing, threatening, harmful, abusive, hateful, racially prejudiced, defamatory, pornographic or sexually explicit language.
  • Personal attacks against fellow league members or other players
  • Negative comments regarding fellow members or the League itself
  • Discussing drugs or other illegal activities
  • Discussing subjects deemed offensive by other members
  • Cheating or using exploits
  • Harassment of other players
  • Ignoring or refusing a directive issued by a League Officer
  • Whining, begging or generally repetitive negative attitudes  (Trolls and Doom Callers)

3.)   Have Fun.  Remember, this is just a game, not a job.  In fact, most of us play MMOs and other video games in order to get some sort of escape from the mundane realities of our everyday life.  The above rules are here to make sure that we can enjoy the game and the community we have built around it to its fullest without all the drama and headaches that we must deal with in “real life”.

Section Two: Membership Rules
« Reply #2 on: September 04, 2012, 09:42:07 AM EDT »

1)   Membership Requirements:  The Corellian League is casual PvE guild with a focus on grouping for content, especially end-game operations.   That being said, the league is an open community that welcomes all TOR players interested in any aspect of the game including RP and PvP as we do also spend a portion of time engaging in those activities as well.  Additionally, we are a predominately USA/Canada based guild, so our one requirement is that you can communicate using the English language.  Beyond that, we do not discriminate based on skill/experience, age, sex, race, religion, geographic location and/or economic constraints.  So long as you play TOR and have a Republic character on our server, you are welcome to submit an application and join us in the good fight.

2)   Application Process:  All TOR players wishing to join the league must submit an application on our website, which will include a quick account registration upon submission.  When applying and registering an account, the account username must be submitted as the in-game character name with which the player wishes to join the guild since it will be that player’s identification in-game and on the forums..  Upon receipt of the application, it will be reviewed by the The Corellian League Council where or a decision will be made as to whether or not the applicant will be accepted into the League.

Upon acceptance into The Corellian League, players will receive a welcome notification message both via PM on the forums and in-game on the character with which the player applied.  These notifications will include instructions for in-game guild invites for the main character and any alts.

4)   Member Expectations:  A Member’s game time is their own.  There are no expectations with regard to specific amounts of time that a member must dedicate to playing their character in TCL events or with other TCL members.  With that being said, all members are expected to give best efforts to provide meaningful contributions to TCL.  The following are some examples of meaningful contributions.
  • Joining the TeamSpeak 3 server when active in-game
  • Joining in groups or operations with other League members in-game
  • Assisting fellow TCL members in-game (i.e., RP, Crafting, Questing, etc.)
  • Participating in official TCL events in or out of the game
  • Participating on the League website and forums

The above list is not all-inclusive.  Members are encouraged to devise their own ways in which to contribute to the League.  Members who are frequently active and/or make exceptional contributions are more likely to get recognized and offered positions of greater responsibility within the League.  The goal is to be as active as you wish to be and enjoy the company of your fellow guild members while playing Star Wars:  The Old Republic.

5)  Alternate Characters:  TCL currently allows members to have up to three alternate characters in-game.  This limit is subject to change at any time to make room for additional members.  This is due to the current in-game character limit of 500 characters per guild.  Please note that alternate characters are not able to hold any guild ranks other than ‘TCL Alt’.  All alternate characters must display the main character’s name in their member notes.

Members who have alternate characters on the Imperial side may seek membership for those characters in our sanctioned Imperial Guild, The Corellian Cabal.  There is no application process, simply log into your imperial character and request an invite from an existing Cabal member.  As with alternates in the league, guild members must display the TCL Main Character’s name in the member notes of their Cabal character(s) as only TCL members are allowed in the Cabal.

6)   Member Activity:  Any member who does not log into the game with their TCL Main Character for a period of more than 60 days will be removed from the guild in-game and placed in an inactive status on the website.

Alternate Characters:  Any alternate characters who have not logged into the game for a period of more than thirty days will be removed from the guild in-game.

Exceptions:  If a player knows that he or she are going to be absent for more than 30 days, he or she can notify the council by submitting a leave of absence post in the Internal Affairs board stating the expected duration of his or her leave.  Upon receipt, the council will take steps to ensure that the player is not removed in-game and is not flagged as “inactive” on the forums.  This arrangement cannot be made for members who are taking undefined breaks from the game.  The member must intend to return and specify approximately when that will be.

Reinstatement:  Upon returning to the game, the player may request a re-invitation to the guild in-game and a re-activation in the forums.  Additional steps may be required when doing so.

7)   Member Resignation:  Membership within TCL is “at will.”  This means that you are free to leave the guild at any time for any reason.  We do ask, however, as a form of courtesy, that you notify the council by submitting a resignation post on the Internal Affairs board.  If you choose to leave the League, you leave, for all intents and purposes, for good.  Should you wish to rejoin TCL at a later date, you must submit a new application, and there is no guarantee that you will be readmitted.

8)   Official League Events:  The Corellian League is structured into content based weeks with a heavy focus on PvE content, specifically end-game operations.  We don’t want to completely isolate ourselves from the other aspects of the game, so we will still have nights for PvP and RP.  The idea is that guild members can login and run whatever they want, but on any given night, the guild will have targeted events available for a guild member to join giving them a choice between their own galactic to-do list and running with content with friends.  Below is a sample week.  Our schedules will be posted Monthly.

Sample Week:
  • Tuesday => Operations Night Alpha(Including Weekday Progression Operations)
  • Wednesday => PvP Night
  • Thursday => Empire Night (Dabble in the Dark Side)
  • Friday Night => Operations Night Beta (Including Weekend Progression Team)
  • Saturday Night =>  Chaos Operations (Alt Ops…  Time to Learn)  /  In-Game RP Events Once or Twice Per Month
  • Sunday Night =>  Cleanup Operations (Progression Operations) / Random Operations (World Bosses and other random PvE events…)
  • Monday Night =>  PvP Night

Progression Teams:  The Corellian League does encourage end-game progression operations.  Guild members wishing to participate in a progression operations team acknowledge that this is requires a commitment somewhat above that of a typical casual guild.  For The Corellian League, as a casual guild, there is only one extra requirement that will be expected from guild members wishing to participate in progression operations.  Progression teams will be setup for a specific night of the week.  Currently there is a week-day team that executes progression operations on Tuesday nights and a week-end team that executes progression operations on Friday nights.  Both teams operate clean-up operations on Sunday nights.  The expectation for progression team members is that they will be on-line for their respective progression nights.  There will be backups in place, but repetitive absences from the scheduled progression night (defined as more than once in a month) will result in a member’s removal from the progression team as this type of content requires a more aggressive dedication and practiced team to complete.

Section Three: In-Game Rules
« Reply #3 on: September 04, 2012, 10:02:49 AM EDT »

1)   In Game Conduct:  Above all else, the “Golden Rule” and Section One of this charter must be followed at all times.  Remember, you are a representative of the League.  The TCL name follows your character wherever you go.  Poor behavior on your part reflects poorly on TCL as a whole.  Should it become apparent that a guild member has willfully acted in a manner that could damage the reputation of TCL, they will be dismissed immediately in order to preserve the integrity of the rest of our community.

2)   Account Security:  All guild members are responsible for maintaining the security of their game accounts.  Guild members are expected to keep their passwords secure and accounts safe from any unauthorized access.  Should someone else access a guild member’s account, with or without permission, the member needs to notify the council of the breach via the Internal Affairs board.  Guild members will be held accountable for any actions committed by the third party.

2a)  Account Security (Security Keys):  Security keys are encouraged to protect member’s in-game accounts.  They can be purchased directly from BioWare, or there is an iPhone/Android app that can be downloaded.  Security Keys will be required for any member holding an officer rank.

3)   Character Progression:  Again, a guild member’s time is his or her own.  He or she is not expected to dedicate any specific amount of time to playing a specific character.  That being said, all members are expected to devote a reasonable amount of time to developing and equipping their character so that they provide a net positive contribution to TCL.  As the exact details of what entails a “positive contribution” is difficult to define, we will leave it to the judgment of our members to assess if their characters are living up to what is expected of them as members of TCL.  If you have any doubts, please contact your fellow members for advice and guidance.  They are more than willing to help you out.

Progression Teams will be held to their weekly progression operation obligation on their assigned night.  Additionally, they will be held to a more strict gearing standard for participation in progression operations.

4)  In-Game Events:  The Corellian League is structured into content based weeks with a heavy focus on PvE content, specifically end-game operations.  These events will be led by a council member or by another guild member who has qualified as a Strike Team Commander.  These individuals are in charge of the events.  If you chose to participate in an event, please look for these individuals to take point regarding establishing teams, setting loot rules and final decision on general strategies.

Loot Rules:  The Corellian League will use Master Looter for all events and has very simple loot rules.  First, the Strike Team Commander will request players who need the item to /roll for it.  If nobody needs the item the Strike Team Commander will let anybody who wants to /roll for it for any reason.

Loot Rules

  • Gear:  Guild members may /roll for any gear during the need roll if the character on which they are playing needs the item.
    • Gear Tokens will be limited to one per person per operation unless nobody needs to /roll during the need roll, in which case anybody may /roll for it in the greed roll.
  • Crafting Materials:  All crafting materials will go to the guild bank where they can be purchased by guild members for use.
  • Vanity Items:  Vanity items are often rare drops.  It is therefore requested that guild members only /roll for them on one character (the character they really want to have the item).  After that they are asked to pass on that specific item for that character and all their other characters to allow other guild members an opportunity to win it should it drop again.  If nobody wants to /roll for an item, guild members may then /roll for a second copy.
    • Main Characters are given priority over Alternate characters
    • The vanity rule is not policed.  Guild members are expected to respect each other enough to follow this rule.  Should somebody feel that somebody is abusing the system for vanity items, please let a member of the council know, and the council will work to resolve the issue.

5)  PvP MvP Voting:  Each member of a PvP team will vote for the next guild member below their name.  If your name is at the bottom, vote for the topmost guild member.

6)  Guild Bank:  Players may pull standard crafting materials from the guild bank per their weekly limit.  For exotic crafting materials (end-game crafting materials) as well as special items stored in Deep Storage, players may request the items from a council member.  Such items will be released to a player for a donation equal to 50% of the lowest market price for an item on the GTN or an agreed upon price where an item is not on the GTN.  Council members may refuse certain requests in order to ensure that a guild member is not monopolizing certain exotic crafting materials or special items.

Section Four: Role Play (RP) Rules
« Reply #4 on: September 04, 2012, 10:04:04 AM EDT »

1)  RP Participation:  Members may choose their own level of RP participation.  Guild members are encouraged to create a “realistic” Star Wars: The Old Republic character and come up with at least a rudimentary background story for them.  This is a good way for guild members to personalize a character which actually helps play that character.

2)  Character Names:  All members must have characters with names that are appropriate and “realistic”.  If you have any doubts about whether or not your character’s name is appropriate, please ask the Lore Master for further clarification.

3)  In-Game RP Conduct:  As TCL is assigned to an RP server, all members are expected to understand and abide by the unique RP rules for TOR as established by BioWare.  Please respect the RP of other players and follow generally accepted practices when engaging other players in RP.

  • All guild members should remain in character at all times when engaged in RP.
  • RP is options based, remember this with emotes and actions so as to not take choice away from another player.  For example, if a character were to slap another, the character would swing his or her arm to slap the intended target giving the other player the opportunity to react by dodging the slap, taking it, or making whatever reaction makes the most sense for their character.
  • Interrupting another groups RP conversation is generally considered to be rude unless you have been invited to participate.  When in doubt, contact a participant via private chat and get permission first.
  • The policies of section one of this charter, and in particular our "Golden Rule" should be followed at all times during RP interactions.

4)  In-Game RP Monitoring:  In SWTOR, RP servers are self-monitored and players may report anything they feel breaches the RP standard of the environment.  Should you be reported to and subsequently contacted by a BioWare representative, you are expected to obey and abide by the directives and rulings.  Should you disagree with a decision made by a BioWare representative, DO NOT confront them yourself.  Please explain your grievance to a council member so that your dispute can be resolved through proper channels.

5)  RP Oversight:  The Lore Master is charged with moderating and overseeing the various RP aspects of TCL, such as RP events (in-game and on the forums), TCL Cannon and Lore, and TCL Chronicles.  The Lore Master is also responsible for ensuring that member RP conforms to the TCL standards described in this document.

6)  RP Posts:  RP threads posted on our forum must be on topic and related to the lore presented in game or through our official TCL Canon (aka TCL Chronicles).  Also, any additional rules and decisions handed down by the Lore Master or council must be followed as well.

7)  Chronicles:  Chronicles are encouraged posting material.  Any entries intended for inclusion as official League canon must first be submitted to the RP Committee for approval.  RP posts or in-game interactions selected for inclusion as official TCL Canon will be added to the appropriate places by the RP Committee.

8)  Plagiarism:  All RP material must be original works of the creator or have the original creator’s permission for duplication.  Willful plagiarism will not be tolerated under any circumstances.  Accusations of plagiarism will be investigated and reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

9)  Spoilers:  Spoilers are not to be dropped in guild or public chat (in-game).  Spoilers include quest names, objective information and possible outcomes as well as NPC names and story lines.  When in doubt, ask before speaking or use private communications to discuss story information.

Section Five: Site and Forum Rules
« Reply #5 on: September 04, 2012, 10:04:37 AM EDT »

1)  The Corellian League Site Account:  All members are required to apply for and register an account on www.thecorellianleague.com.  A member's forum display name MUST match their character name as it appears on our in-game guild roster (legacy surnames are permitted).   Further participation on the website beyond registration is not required but is encouraged.

  • Custom Signatures:  Signature images must be SWTOR related should not be any larger than 640 x 110 pixels and must not contain any profanity or nudity.
  • Custom Avatars:  Avatar images must be SWTOR related should not be any larger than 90 x 90 pixels (GIV, JPEG or PNG) and must not contain any profanity or nudity.

2)  Forum Conduct:  Again, the “Golden Rule” and all stipulations of Section One apply to member conduct when participating on our site and forums.  Furthermore, members must refrain from spamming or otherwise advertising third parties unless explicit permission has been previously obtained from the council.  Furthermore, do not post copyrighted material without permission of the copyright owner.  Section One, Spamming, and Copyright Rules have a Zero Tolerance policy.  Violators of any of these rules or rule sets will be subject to disciplinary action.

  • Forum Bylaws
    • Please make all posts in English
    • Use the search function before posting a new topic to ensure that it is "new".
    • All threads must be created within the correct board.
    • All posts to threads should remain on topic with the original post (OP).
    • Read a thread before posting to ensure your comment still makes sense in the course of the discussion.
    • Report abuse in a post to a member of the council for resolution.  Please do not perpetuate an incident.
    • Do not cross post messages.  Post only in the most appropriate forum.
    • Use clear titles for your topics.  Do not post titles in ALL CAPS for attention.  This is reserved for announcements from the council.
    • Do not post topics of a political nature pertaining to any politics outside of The Republic or The Empire
    • Do not post just to boost your posting numbers.  Keep your comments useful

Council members are free to move and/or edit threads as necessary to comply with League and forum rules.  Posts may be edited or removed without notice if the content is in violation of league standards.

Access to The Corellian League site and forums is a privilege, not a right.  Any member who abuses this privilege and violates forum/TCL rules will have their site account suspended and may face other disciplinary measures (up to and including dismissal).

3)  Media Gallery:  The intent of the Media Gallery is for you to have a place to upload in-game TOR content.

  • Media Gallery Bylaws
    • Only SWTOR related content may be uploaded
    • Members are allowed multiple albums to ornaize content
    • All comments in media galleries are subject to Section One the aforementioned Forum Bylaws.
    • Do not link avatars and/or signatures from the gallery to your profiles.  This causes errors.  Either host them externally or provide them to Ke'll Ma'lo for proper storage and application.

4)  Forum Moderators:  Forum moderators are council members.  As mentioned above, moderators function to ensure that all posts comply with our forum and TCL rules.  If a post is flagged as inappropriate, moderators review the complaint and the post in question and rectify the situation as necessary.  Guild members are expected to comply with any changes or decisions implemented by forum moderators.  Should a member disagree with a moderator’s ruling, they may request a formal review by the entire council.

Section Seven: League Provisions
« Reply #7 on: September 04, 2012, 10:36:28 AM EDT »

1)   Loot Rules:  The loot rules are managed by the authority of the council.  Items will be administered as stated in the In-Game Rules (Section 4).

2)   Guild Bank:   The guild bank is managed by the authority of the council.  Items will be administered as stated in the In-Game Rules (Section 4).

3)   Guild Chat Channel:  SWTOR will provide a private guild chat channel in game.  All members are encouraged to use this for communication amongst each other.  All communication via the guild chat channel may be done out of character.

Additionally, The Corellian League will have a public channel all members will be instructed to join at the time of induction that they may use when on non-guild characters to communicate with other guild members.

4)  TeamSpeak 3:  The Corellian League will provide a TeamSpeak 3 server for communications.  This will be required for use in operations, but all players are encouraged to login whenever they are in-game.  This is the single best communication tool used by the league and is the easiest way to reach council members and other guild members.

5)   Guild Base:  SWTOR does state that at some point, it will launch Guild Ships.  As such, all members have the right to visit the Guild Ship as needed.  Most League events will originate and be assembled at the Guild Ship.  All decisions pertaining to the operations of the Guild Ship are the responsibility of the TCL Council.  If we are allowed to name our ships, a guild-wide contest will be held and judged by the Council.

1)   Dispute Resolution:  If one (or more) member becomes involved in a dispute with another member and the two (or more) members are unable to come to a resolution, the members are expected to cease communication with each other over the disputed matter and file a grievance with the council.  The council will make a decision on the matter in dispute.  Any decision made by The council is FINAL.  Should a member be involved in a dispute with a non-League player, they should cease all further communication with the player and contact the council with their grievance.  A council member will then pursue the matter though proper channels on behalf of the member.

2)   Reporting Violations:  Should you, as a member, witness another member violating the rules outlined within the charter or other posted League Policies, DO NOT confront the offending member yourself under any circumstances.  Please inform a council member of what you witnessed.  Please provide as detailed a description as possible along with any supporting evidence such as screenshots or chat logs.

3)   Disciplinary Procedure:  When a member is reported to have violated the directives of this charter, the matter will be brought directly before the council.  The accused member will be contacted, notifying them that a complaint has been filed against them and asking for their version of the transpired events.  Once the accused party has been given a reasonable amount of time to defend themselves, a determination will be made on what action should be taken next.  Should the accused party be exonerated, they will be notified along with the reporting party of the decision made and the reasons for making it.  Likewise, should the accused be found guilty of violating TCL rules and/or policy, an appropriate punishment will be determined and enacted upon the guilty party.  In most cases, any decision made by the council will be FINAL.  Appeals will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

4)   Punishments:  In the cases where it has been determined that a violation has occurred; an appropriate punishment will be enacted upon the offending party based on the severity of the transgression.  For minor infractions, this may include:
  • Temporary suspension of site/forum access.
  • Temporary disqualification from upcoming TCL events and/or looting permissions.
  • Temporary disqualification for Guild Bank Requests.

5)   League Dismissal:  In cases of egregious breaches of TCL rules and/or polices or instances were a member has willfully and/or repeatedly violated the stipulations of Section One of the Guild Charter, the only appropriate course of action is immediate and total dismissal from the TCL itself.  Only the council has the authority to dismiss members from the league.  Furthermore, Any council member is authorized to summarily dismiss members who they personally witness willfully violating Section One of this Charter.  In almost all instances, League dismissal is final and absolute.  The dismissed member and all of their characters, present and future, will be ineligible for membership within TCL in perpetuity.  This is a punishment that is not to be taken lightly and will only be handed out in the most severe cases of deliberate or repeated offences that are particularly malicious and/or  in which the integrity and reputation of the entire TCL community is in jeopardy.
